For a long time i connected to my pc my garmins by usb cable to upload from basecamp (FR305,fenix 1, fenix 2, epix, etrex, even FR945 :) ) Now I usually prepare my long or all day bike trip usually in strava + basecamp + some other sources and upload it to garmin connect and then click send to garmin. It will be uploaded when i turn on my edge.
